Our Mission

Lets make India roads accident free, pollution free and tension free, through education research and planning. That's the corporate philosophy of IRTE, a non-profit institution for making people aware of the value of life, so that happiness prevails.

The Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) is a Non Government Organisation. This non profit organisation was formed in December 1991 by an Inter-disciplinary group of members drawn from amongst police, doctors, journalists, engineers, educationists, ex-servicemen, architects, automobile experts etc. The Vision of IRTE was born from a necessity to create a positive attitude of road culture in society. This vision has translated itself into an organisation, which has embarked on its Mission to strengthening the infrastructure of driver training, traffic engineering, and road user awareness in India.

The IRTE is working with Institutions and the Government for :-

Developing enforcement technology systems (Interceptors )
Introducing the traffic warden schemes (Student Traffic Volunteers Scholarship Scheme)
School Transport Safety in a) Buses  b) Autorickshaw, Cyclerikshaw.
Community Involvement in roadside programe (Cross Roads)
Imparting training to traffic police
Analysis & Research in Road Safety.

Road culture, which is missing in India has led to deterioration in the road user character. This indiscipline in turn, has led to growth in road accidents, driver tension, environmental pollution and an enormous loss caused by a waste of man-hours and revenue.

Good road are like healthy arteries, would not only bring safety, but also reduce tension and pollution, build up industry, promote tourism and integrate people of this vast nation of India.

Scope of the project is currently limited to a 56km stretch of road between Colvale and Navelin Bazar Junction. However, it is believed that this demonstration project will have a spillover effect all over the state in creating ample awareness among public and various concerned authorities responsible for highway traffic management and related issues.
