Road Safety Films

Several films have been produced by the IRTE on various issues touching upon road safety. The target audiences for these films are government organizations dealing in traffic management, schools, drivers and the public at large.

       

Come Back Home Safely (10mins) highlights situations, behaviors, road and traffic engineering shortcomings that lead to road accidents.

           

Alcohol Kills-Drinking & Driving Don't Mix (5mins, produced in English and Tamil) deals with the driver who drinks and drives and meets with a fatal accident.

   

Man, Machine & Environment (10 mins) highlights the vulnerable driver, the shortcomings of his vehicle and the environment in which he has to operate.

   

The Hand that Rocks the Cradle (5mins) is a film directed towards the schools, parents, the government and the students on the vulnerability of transportation of school children in auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws.

The Journey of IRTE (9 mins) IRTE has, in the last 10 years, invested its effort in catalyzing the development of infrastructure in various fields of traffic enforcement, management, engineering, education, awareness, research and training. This film dwells upon the various activities of IRTE in these fields.

 

A United Traffic Police - IRTE Vision (10 mins) Application of traffic enforcement varies from city to city and state to state. There is hardly any traffic police training and sharing of enforcement strategies between different traffic police organizations. This film emphasizes the need for uniform traffic police application.

 

The Neglected & Vulnerable Road User - The Pedestrian (8mins) The film brings to light the risks confronting the road user on foot. It captures the state offacilities for pedestrians, the behavior of other road users towards them as well as the pedestrians' own behavior on road which may compromise their safety.

     
Helmets save the Two Wheeler Rider A film (8 minutes) depicting the vulnerability of the two wheeler riders not donning the protective headgear-Produced in English and Konkani    
 

Village Road Safety Literacy Film for the Village of Nuvem in Goa-(10 minutes) captures the importance of the village of Nuvem and how the traffic along the Highway 17 has threatened the local citizens. The film shows the violations being committed and how the concerned stakeholders suggest safety measures.

     

These films are screened at several seminars and training sessions on road safety held by IRTE or other organizations. Copies of these films are available to interested organizations or individuals.
