M.Sc. (Traffic Management) at IRTE’s College of Traffic Management

The College of Traffic Management was the first college in Southeast Asia to conduct a meticulously designed two-year postgraduate degree program, namely, M.Sc. (Traffic Management) with affiliation to Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, from the Academic Year 2018-19 to 2021-22.

Objective:

The program aimed at building capacity in domains of traffic management and developing a scientific basis for comprehensively integrating the subject areas through research on the recognition of national and local needs and globally applied best practices.

Nurturing industry-ready graduates through innovative and scientifically acclaimed practices by building research acumen, the program helped individuals rise to become traffic managers, support academic and research organisation by enhancing their capabilities of scientific investigations in road traffic accidents, and thereby minimizing road crash injuries and deaths in the country.

Opportunities:

It provided ample opportunities with concessionaires responsible for operating highways, road construction and maintenance organizations, fleet operators, tourist and transport consultants, automobile and insurance companies, urban development agencies, and other government and non-government organizations dealing with road transport, safety audits, traffic engineering and road safety.

The topics covered in this program ranged from traffic engineering, road safety audit, traffic enforcement, road crash investigation, driver training, vehicle safety, road safety education, highway asset management, post-crash management and other related aspects.

Placement:

The College facilitated the recruitment of each MSc (Traffic Management) student and ensured 100% placement even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recruiters included companies like Intercontinental Consultants & Technocrats Pvt. Ltd., International Road Federation, Welspun Enterprises, VR Technique Consultants Pvt Ltd etc.

Convocation:

Dr Kiran Bedi IPS (R), Former Lt. Governor of Puducherry, as Chief Guest, delivered the Inaugural Address at the First Convocation of IRTE’s College of Traffic Management and educated the recent graduates (Batch 2018-20) of MSc Traffic Management (with affiliation to Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak)

Vision:

Considering the program’s success and the requirements of different stakeholders, a new postgraduate degree program in Traffic Management is currently being designed and is under consideration.

At present, the College conducts an M.Sc. (Forensic Science), affiliated with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, Gujarat - An Institution of National Importance (Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India) from the Academic Year 2022-23.
